OMV lines up semisubmersible for well offshore New Zealand

OMV expects the semisubmersible Kan Tan IV to spud the Matuku offshore exploration well in mid-September, according to partner New Zealand Oil & Gas (NZOG).

WELLINGTON, New Zealand – OMV expects the semisubmersible Kan Tan IV to spud the Matuku offshore exploration well in mid-September, according to partner New Zealand Oil & Gas (NZOG).

Matuku in license PEP 51906 offshore Taranaki has estimated recoverable resources of 65 MMbbl. It is expected take 40 days to drilling to the planned TD of 4,756 m (15,603 ft), NZOG says.

Octanex is the other partner.
