WALLSEND, UK – OGN has completed Apache’s new Forties Alpha satellite platform destined for the Forties complex in the UK central North Sea.
The deck will be towed out of the River Tyne in northeast England to the Forties field, 110 mi (177 km) offshore Aberdeen, U.K. First oil is expected to flow to the new platform this fall. It has the capacity to produce up to 25,000 b/d.
Apache awardedOGN the design and build contract in 2010. The project required more than 3 million man hours of work, and provided 2,000 jobs at OGN’s Hadrian Yard at Wallsend.
OGN was established four years ago when it acquired Hadrian Yard and invested £25 million ($39 million) in the region.
