OSLO, NorwayWintershall will drill the Amol oil exploration prospect this summer in the central Norwegian North Sea, according to partner Bridge Energy.

Amol is in license PL 457, east of the Wintershall-operatedAsha oil and gas discovery. Recent remapping suggests Asha may be in direct communication with a large upside volume east of the main structure. The reserves range has therefore been upgraded to 30-100 MMboe.

In March, the license partners signed a pre-unitization agreement with the PL001B Ivar Aasen field participants concerning ajoint development. The unitization process is expected to conclude by mid-2014, Bridge says.

Elsewhere in the Norwegian North Sea, Bridge will partner with operator Det norske oljeselskap in a well scheduled for late spring 2014 on the PL 494 Hercules prospect in the Mandal High area. Net unrisked potential to Bridge, which has a 30% interest, is 94 MMboe.

Also in 2014, the Total-led PL 554B partnership will drill a new prospect to build on theGarantiana discovery.

In UK North Sea license P1764, Bridge is working with operator MPX on well planning and rig selection for the Aragon prospect, where drilling could start early next year.
