Strong demand for Prosafe rigs in North Sea, Latin America

Prosafe has issued an update on assignments for its offshore accommodation support rigs.

LARNACA, Cyprus – Prosafe has issued an update on assignments for its offshore accommodation support rigs.

Five are on bareboat charters in the Mexican sector forPemex, namely the Safe Regency, Safe Lancia, SafeJasminia, Safe Hibernia, and Safe Britannia. All charters are due to end at various times this year, except for the Britannia, which is contracted until end-2014.

Last month theRegalia started work for Norske Shell on the Draugen field in the Norwegian Sea, while Safe Scandinavia began a contract for ConocoPhillips in the central North Sea supporting the Jasmine field development.

In the same sector,Safe Caledonia has been operating for BP on the Andrew field, while Safe Bristolia started a contract earlier this month for Total in the UK sector.

Safe Concordia is well into a three-year contract for Petrobras offshore Brazil, which started in 2Q 2011. Safe Astoria, however, is currently off-hire in Batam, Indonesia.

Prosafe says there are further tenders pending and it expects more contract awards in the coming months. Demand is being driven mainly by a focus on increased oil recovery from existing fields and the growing number of new field developments, particularly offshore Norway.
