CALGARY, Canada – Husky Energy says the Liwan gas project in the South China Sea is on schedule for start-up around the turn of the year. By end-March the project was around 85% complete.

The 30,000-metric ton (33,069-ton) topsides portion of the offshore central platform, the largest built to date in Asia the company claims, was loaded out on a barge in mid-April and is due to be installed on the platforms jacket this spring.

Liwan 3-1, the final production well, has been completed while offshore pipe installation continues. Construction of the onshore gas plant is progressing, with 10 liquids storage tanks in place.

OffshoreIndonesia, Husky is also working on two shallow-water gas developments in the Madura Strait.

The plan for the combined MDA/MBH field received regulatory approval earlier this year. Work on the BD field advanced with evaluation of tender bids for an FPSO and related infrastructure contracts.

Husky continues to evaluate four new gas discoveries made offshore Indonesia last year for commercial development.
