Offshore staff
SINGAPORE – Jurong Shipyard has chosen uprated Cat C280-16 generator sets from Caterpillar to power the Moss Maritime-designed CS60 West Rigel semisubmersible drilling rig.
This is a newbuild under construction for Seadrill subsidiary North Atlantic Drilling.
Eight C280-16s, each with rated power of 5,500 ekw (5,730 bkw at 900 rpm), will provide the main power for the rig, with two additionally serving as emergency power.
The uprated generator sets are said to offer a 12% increase in overall power.
