TGS broadens Arctic seismic data bank

ASKER, NorwayTGS (OSLO:TGS) has issued an update on its latest offshore seismic acquisition and processing campaigns.

Work is under way on the 3,500-sq km (1,351-sq mi)Finnmark Platform 2013 (FP13) survey in the Norwegian sector of the Barents Sea. This will be processed for clients to use in applications for the next Norway APA license round this fall.

The company is applying its Clari-Fi processing technology, which provides broadband data, to a 90,000-km (55,923-mi) grid of long-offset 2D data over parts of the Norwegian Sea. Additionally, it is reprocessing 26,000 km (16,155 mi) of 2D seismic data off WestGreenland and 5,000 km (3,107 mi) of regional 2D data over the Russian Barents Sea. Both projects are expected to be completed before year-end.

During 1Q2013 TGS continued a 4,064-sq km (1,569-sq mi) extension of a 3D survey over the eastern parts of Angola deepwater blocks 36 and 37. The campaign is expected to finish this month.

Offshore Liberia, the company started a 6,200-sq km (2,394-sq mi) multi-client 3D survey called“Sunfish”. This is being acquired ahead of a deepwater tender round expected in late 2013.

Off Sierra Leone, TGS began a new 9,200-km (5,716-mi) 2D survey, bringing its offshore 2D coverage for this country to 15,000 km (9,320 mi). It already has 6,000 sq km (2,317 sq mi) of multi-client 3D data off Sierra Leone.

The company has completed and delivered final time processed data from the 8,900-sq km (3,436-sq mi) Mary Rose 3D survey over prospective acreage in the Carnarvon basin, offshore Northwest Australia.
