IRVINE, UK – H2Oil & Gas has won a patent for its REDft process. This is designed to reduce the space, weight, and environmental impact of water treatment equipment offshore for enhanced oil recovery.

REDft (an acronym for Reduced Footprint) uses prove membrane technology, reconfigured into a more compact package.

It houses UF/MF membranes in the same pressure housing as RO/NF membranes, leading to reductions in weight and space, while retaining the capability to clean both membrane sets online.

Other technologies applied by the process include compact ultra-filtration units for filtration of seawater prior to injection into the reservoir; and an RO/NF membrane housing designed to limit piping requirements and to simplify membrane installation.
