Noble resumes drilling offshore Equatorial Guinea

The semisubmersible Atwood Hunter has spudded the Noble Energy-operated I-7 exploration well on the Carla South prospect offshore Equatorial Guinea.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The semisubmersible Atwood Hunterhas spudded the Noble Energy-operated I-7 exploration well on the Carla South prospect offshore Equatorial Guinea.

According to partner PA Resources, the prospect is on trend with theCarla North discovery that was appraised recently in block O, north of block I.

The target is Tertiary sandstones of similar age to those in the discovery to the north. It is expected to take about 25 days to reach total depth, with a side track likely to follow.

Later this year, another appraisal well could be drilled on theDiega discovery in block I.
