Hertel clinches Aasta Hansteen living quarters

Hyundai Heavy Industries has awarded Hertel Offshore a $91-million contract for Statoil’s Aasta Hansteen spar platform in the Norwegian Sea.

ROTTERDAM, the NetherlandsHyundai Heavy Industries has awarded Hertel Offshore a $91-million contract for Statoil’s Aasta Hansteen spar platform in the Norwegian Sea.

Hertel will provide engineering, design, and construction of the five-level, steel accommodation living quarters (LQ) for 108 personnel. It will weigh about 2,600 metric tons (2,866 tons), and include a galley, recreational area, medical room, control room, and helideck.

The design will be based on Norsok and Statoil requirements. The completed LQ should be delivered in April 2015.

TheAasta Hansteen gas field is on blocks 6706/12 and 6707/10, 186 mi (300 km) offshore and in 4,265 ft (1,300 m) of water.

Hertel is currently working on Statoil’sValemon platform LQ, destined for the Norwegian North Sea, and an additional LQ for Norske Shell’s Draugen complex in the Norwegian Sea. Both are under construction in Rotterdam.
