BP lengthens well intervention contract

BP has awarded Island Offshore a two-year extension to an ongoing contract for well intervention services.

STAVANGER, Norway – BP has awarded Island Offshore a two-year extension to an ongoing contract for well intervention services.

Island has been working for BP for five years with the North Sea RLWI Alliance, which operates three monohull well intervention vessels. However Island’s 120-m (393-ft) long, 8,200-ton Ulstein-built X-Bow vesselIsland Constructor will perform the scope of work for BP, which runs through 2015.

Value of the firm two-year extension is $86.5 million.
