Suncor starts drilling Scotney in North Sea

LONDON – The semisubmersible Awilco Wilhunter has spudded a well on the Scotney exploration prospect in the UK North Sea, operated by Suncor Energy. The location is on block 20/5b, license P.1658.

According to partner Trap Oil (AIM: TRAP), Scotney is a four-way dip closure at the base Cretaceous unconformity level with late Jurassic Tweedsmuir sands as the reservoir objective. It could hold reserves of 57 MMboe.

The well will be drilled to an estimated TVDSS of 10,580 ft (3,225 m).
