PSA issues clearance for two North Sea wells

OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has approved Rocksource’s North Sea well program.

The semisubmersibleBorgland Dolphin will drill well 26/5-1 on production license 506 S on the Storbarden prospect. Water depth is 261 m (856 ft). Drilling should start next month and continue for at least 34 days (in the event of a dry hole).

PSA has authorized Statoil’slatest appraisal well on the Johan Sverdrup field in the same sector, using the semisubmersible Ocean Vanguard.

Well 16/2-17 S will be drilled on PL 265 in 111 m (364 ft) of water, and is expected to get under way in March. This program could last 71-88 days, depending on whether a test or side track is needed.
