SHARJAH, UAE – Dev Drilling has contracted Lamprell for a newbuild jackup.
The fully outfitted and equipped LeTourneau rig will be of aSuper 116E Class design, capable of operating in water depths of up to 350 ft (107 m) and with a rated drilling depth of 30,000 ft (9,144 m).
Lamprell will build the rig at its Hamriyah yard, with construction forecast to take 18 months. This is the second rig the company is constructing for Dev Drilling’s parent company Jindal Group, the first being due for delivery this November.
Jindal has an option for Lamprell to build a further jackup rig, exercisable within six months of the effective date of the contract.
