Hess hits 7th successful deepwater well offshore Ghana

Hess Corp. (NYSE:HES) has completed drilling its seventh consecutive successful exploratory well on the Deepwater Tano/Cape Three Points block offshore Ghana.

NEW YORK –Hess Corp. (NYSE:HES) has completed drilling its seventh consecutive successful exploratory well on the Deepwater Tano/Cape Three Points block offshore Ghana.

The Pecan North-1 well, 7 mi northeast of thePecan-1 well, encountered approximately 40 ft of net oil pay in Turonian-aged reservoir.

All seven of the wells were drilled by theStena Drillmaxdrillship in water depths of 5,623 ft to 8,245 ft.

Hess plans to submit appraisal plans for the discoveries to the government for approval and has begun pre-development studies on the block.

Hess holds a 90% working interest in the block and is the operator. GNPC is a 10% equity interest partner and is carried through to the production phase of the license.
