SYDNEY, Australia –The jackup drilling rig Endeavour – Spirit of Independence has received its ABS Certification. Once the US Coast Guard and the Alaskan Oil & Gas Conservation Commission have added their approval, the rig can begin drilling in Cook Inlet, Alaska, for Buccaneer Energy Ltd. (ASX:BCC).
Drilling will begin on the Cosmopolitan prospect as soon as those permissions are granted. The prospect is in 50 ft (15 m) of water 30 mi (48 km) northwest of Homer, Alaska.
Buccaneer’s Plan of Operations includes aprovision to drill two wells at Cosmopolitan. The second well is an option. The company has scheduled late March as the spud date.
Spartan Drilling LLC will assume the role of drilling contractor for the project.
