MUSCAT, Oman – Circle Oil has provided an update on its exploration plans for block 52 offshore Oman.

The company has identified numerous potentially significant targets in deepwater, but will need to seek a farm-in partner to drill these prospects.

Detailed interpretation in 2011 and 2012 of existing datasets over the block also indicated three promising targets in the shallower nearshore waters, in depths less than 40 m (131 ft).

Circle plans a marine 2D seismic acquisition program to work up these prospects and is tendering to start acquisition as soon as possible. The resultant data should help determine prospect size and ranking and determine whether the company can undertake sole risk drilling in the block.
