REDRUTH, UK –Calidus Engineering is developing a new downhole camera designed to give real-time, wide-angle, high-definition video of the wellbore.

The CaliCAM has its color video sensor housed in a heat-resistant Dewar flask to withstand 125ºC (257ºF) downhole temperatures, says Calidus. The tool is 2.25 in. (5.7 cm) in diameter and has a four arm roller centralizer.

It runs in surface readout mode on standard wireline monocable. Video is transmitted to the surface at five fps over E-line. Higher resolution video is recorded to a PC compatible, 32GB SD card, providing at least five hours recording, for later download.
