Statoil commissions North Sea Gullfaks transition program

Statoil has contracted Aker Solutions MMO for topsides modifications to increase oil recovery at the Gullfaks South complex in the Norwegian North Sea.

STAVANGER, Norway -- Statoil has contracted Aker Solutions MMO for topsides modifications to increase oil recovery at the Gullfaks South complex in the Norwegian North Sea.

This is connected to the tie-in of two new templates atGullfaks South to the Gullfaks A platform. Additionally, Aker will perform topsides modification for re-routing production from the existing template D from Gullfaks A to Gullfaks C.

Estimated value of the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning assistance (EPCIc) contract is $32 million.

Aker’s maintenance, modifications and operations team in Bergen, Norway, will manage the program, with pre-fabrication performed at fabrications facilities nearby in Aagotnes. The work should be completed by end-2014.
