ConocoPhillips, Shell team up for block offshore Sabah

Petronas has awarded a production sharing contract for block SB311 offshore Sabah.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Petronas has awarded a production sharing contract for block SB311 offshore Sabah.

The block will be operated by ConocoPhillips Sabah Gas, in partnership with Shell Energy Asia and Petronas Carigali.

The 1,046-sq km (404-sq mi) block is in the central part of the Sabah basin in water depths ranging from 50-100 m (164-328 ft). It is within a proven hydrocarbon fairway including discoveries such as Kebabangan, Kinarut, and Erb West.

The partners have committed to drill two exploratory wells, acquire 400 line km (250 mi) of new 2D seismic data, and re-process existing 3D seismic over the block.
