ABERDEEN, UK – Total has contracted Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies to provide an operator decision support system for the Laggan-Tormore gas project west of Shetland.

The scope comprises design, build, installation, training, and support of a production management system (PMS) and an overall flow metering system (OFMS) based at the Shetland Gas Plant processing terminal.

The PMS is a dynamic model of the 140-km (87-mi) production pipelines and gas processing facilities that will allow the operator to understand and predict process behavior.

According to Kongsberg, a high-fidelity model is critical to manage the liquids inventory, and in particular the MEG inhibitor close loop system and its regeneration.

The dynamic models will use the latest version of LedaFlow, a new transient multi-phase flow simulator that Kongsberg has developed jointly with Total.

The OFMS is included to give better control of the production reconciliation, and to provide back-up to the multi-phase flow meters.
