Aker to supply Daewoo with deepwater drilling riser system

Offshore staff

LYSAKER, Norway – Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has contracted Aker Solutions (Oslo Børs:AKSO) to provide a deepwater drilling riser system.

The 10,000 ft. (3,048 m) CLIP riser system will be built at Aker’s Port Klang, Malaysia, facility for delivery in November 2014.

The CLIP riser was developed for ultra deepwater drilling and uses a simple, breechblock connector. Other benefits include lip seals with anti-extrusion rings, field replaceable peripheral lines for upgrading, and replaceable pins with these peripheral lines. Easy stabbing can also be achieved even if misaligned, says Aker.
