West of Shetland breakthrough for GDF Suez

GDF Suez E&P UK has provisionally been awarded nine licenses, three as operator, under the UK’s 27th offshore oil and gas licensing round.

LONDON – GDF Suez E&P UK has provisionally been awarded nine licenses, three as operator, under the UK’s 27th offshore oil and gas licensing round.

Jean-Claude Perdigues, managing director, said: “We are very pleased to have been awarded nine licenses in the 27th round, especially those in the west of Shetland area where we become operator for the first time.

“These awards underscore our commitment to invest, explore, and operate in our core regions of the southern North Sea, central North Sea, and west of Shetland as we become an increasingly significant E&P player in the UK continental shelf, notably with the ongoing development of three operated projectsCygnus, Juliet, and Orca.”
