Qatar, Total extend partnership for offshore Al Khalij field

Qatar Petroleum and Total have signed a heads of agreement to extend for 25 years the partnership in the offshore Al Khalij field.

DOHA, Qatar –Qatar Petroleum and Total have signed a heads of agreement to extend for 25 years the partnership in the offshore Al Khalij field.

Al Khalij, 130 km (81 mi) offshore east of Qatar, was discovered in 1991 by Total and the subsequent exploration and production sharing agreement was due to expire in early 2014.

The agreement was signed at the Qatar Petroleum headquarters by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, minister of Energy and Industry for Qatar and managing director of Qatar Petroleum, and Yves-Louis Darricarrère, president, Total Upstream.
