GoM platform fire extinguished, say reports

Additional unconfirmed information about the accident on a Gulf of Mexico production platform has it that the fire is extinguished.

HOUSTON –Additional unconfirmed information about the accident on a Gulf of Mexico production platform has it that the fire is extinguished.

Two people are believed to be dead and two more are missing, say the reports. The US Coast Guard evacuated four people by helicopter earlier today to the West Jefferson Medical Center.

There were reportedly 28 people on the non-producing platform conducting maintenance operations.

There are no reports of any oil spill from the platform at this time.

The platform, 25 mi (40 km) southeast of Grand Isle, Louisiana, is contracted to Black Elk.
