Total strengthens UK gas link with Aker

Total E&P UK has awarded Aker Offshore a three-and-a-half-year contract to provide operations and maintenance services at the new Shetland Gas Plant (SGP) in northern Scotland.

ABERDEEN, UK – Total E&P UK has awarded Aker Offshore a three-and-a-half-year contract to provide operations and maintenance services at the new Shetland Gas Plant (SGP) in northern Scotland.

The agreement includes provision of operations, maintenance, and services support personnel at the new facility, which will receive gas from theLaggan and Tormore fields, under development west of Shetland.

Aker plans to create up to 150 positions to support the contract, both on-site at SGP and onshore in Aberdeen.

The company has worked with Total E&P UK since 1989. More than 180 Aker Solutions employees are currently involved in delivering production and maintenance support services at the St. Fergus gas terminal north of Aberdeen, and offshore on the Elgin Franklin complex in the central North Sea.
