ABERDEEN, UK – Red Spider has won a three-year contract to supply downhole devices on Total’s Anguille field offshore Gabon.

As part of the three-year agreement, Red Spider will supply and service eREDs for theAnguille field in Gabon.

The company will deploy 12 of its 3.25-in. remotely operatedeREDs, two in each of the six wells. These will be positioned as barriers within injector wells, with one eRED used as a shallow-set barrier and the second as a deep-set barrier.

The technology allows opening and closing of the valve numerous times, which according to Red Spider, potentially saves many additional hours of rig time. Use of the eREDs in tandem should also generate financial savings, decreasing necessary wireline runs tenfold during each operation.

To date, the tool has successfully completed more than 100 operations for more than 20 operators, saving $500,000 during a single subsea completion operation, Red Spider claims.

In deepwater workover operations, savings of up to 36 hours and $750,000 have been recorded in a single job.
