MONTREAL– Burntisland Fabrications (BiFab) has contracted SNC-Lavalin for detailed design services in the UK southern North Sea.

This concerns the four platform jackets for GDF Suez’sCygnus gas field development in blocks 44/11a and 44/12a.

The jackets will support two wellhead platforms, production and living quarter installations. All will be installed in around 20 m (65.6 ft) of water, 150 km (93 mi) northeast of Easington on the English east coast.

Cygnus’ gas will be exported through a new 50-km (31-mi) subsea pipeline connection to the ETS trunkline system, heading onward to the onshore gas terminal at Bacton.

SNC’s award builds on FEED optimization work performed for the same project.
