SALZBURG, Austria – Palfinger Group has agreed to acquire Norwegian offshore crane manufacturer Bergen Group Dreggen. Subject to approvals, the transaction is expected to close by end-November.

Bergen-based Dreggen has supplied purpose-designed offshore and marine cranes for 25 years. It also hassales offices in Brazil and Singapore, and last year generated turnover of $38.8 million.

In the future, the company will operate under the name Palfinger Dreggen. Palfinger says the Dreggen cranes will expand its product portfolio for the offshore sector substantially by adding jackups, FPSOs, and drilling vessels.

“The offshore sector requires cranes that have been adapted to the highly explosive environment. In future, these special requirements will be perfectly met by the new business unit ‘offshore cranes’,” said Karl Oberreiter, head of Palfinger Marine.
