Marathon wins sanction for Bøyla offshore Norway

Marathon Oil has approval from the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy to develop the Bøyla field in the Norwegian North Sea.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Marathon Oil has approval from the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy to develop the Bøyla field in the Norwegian North Sea.

First production from the field in license PL 340 is expected in 4Q 2014, according to partner Lundin Petroleum. At peak output should reach 19,000 boe/d. Estimated reserves are 21 MMboe.

The field will be developed as asubsea tieback to the Alvheim FPSO – the Alvheim field is 28 km (17.4 mi) to the north.

Conoco Philips Skandinavia is the project’s other partner.
