AHWAZ, Iran – Loading operations have started for the first platform for the South Pars field Phase 12 project offshore Iran.

Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Co. (IOEC) built the platform in the Khoramshahr yard south of Tehran. It weighs 3,260 tons (2,957 metric tons) and is 4,410 sq m (47,469 sq ft). The structure includes a tripod jacket, a middle deck, and a flare.

During the next week or so the platform will be loaded onto a barge and likely installed by IOEC at its offshore location before end-October.

Development of Phase 12 calls for three main platforms and one satellite platform. The second and third platforms are under construction at the same yard and should be ready shortly for load out.

Phase 12 is designed to deliver 1 bcm/d (35.3 bcf/d) of gas, equivalent to three normal phases from the South Pars field. Two-thirds of production will be converted to LNG, and the remainder sent into Iran’s national gas grid.
