Faroe secures drillship for Norway well

Faroe Petroleum has contracted the drillship West Navigator to drill the Novus prospect in the Norwegian Sea in the second half of 2013.

ABERDEEN, UK – Faroe Petroleum has contracted the drillship West Navigator to drill the Novus prospect in the Norwegian Sea in the second half of 2013.

The surrounding license is southwest of the Statoil-operatedHeidrun field in the prolific Halten Terrace hydrocarbon province.

Main targets for the well are the Jurassic reservoirs of the Garn, Ile, and Tilje formations.

Faroe was awarded the Novus prospect under Norway’s APA 2011 licensing round. Its partners in the license are Centrica Resources (Norge) and Skagen 44.
