STAINES, UK -- Fairfield Energy has committed $113 million to improve its Dunlin field platform in the UK northern North Sea to help increase and sustain production.

A new fuel gas import system and a modified water injection system should help lift oil production by year-end to around 10,000 b/d.

For the first time since early 2000,the Dunlin operator will be able to use its own independent power generation system to improve water injection performance.

Since Fairfield took over this role from Shell in 2008, it has focused on rehabilitation measures involving platform and subsea well work, asset integrity andfabric maintenance activity, and a recent 3D seismic survey over the Dunlin field.

Results from the survey will support a planned near-field exploration program that could result in additional tiebacks to the Dunlin platform.
