TRONDHEIM, Norway – Electromagnetic Geoservices ASA (EMGS) has expanded its multi-client basalt mapping project in the west of Shetland area to the Vøring basin in the Norwegian Sea.

TheAtlantic Guardian vessel will continue to acquire controlled-source electromagnetic and magnetotelluric data through the second half of November.

EMGS’ data will be combined with seismic data to determine the thickness of basalt layers and to improve understanding of regional trends in these geologically complex basins with strong potential for hydrocarbon reservoirs.

The project is fully pre-funded and may be expanded further, subject to additional industry commitment and vessel availability.
