CALGARY, Canada – Drilling of the deepwater North Uist exploration prospect west of Shetland has been interrupted by mechanical issues, according to partner Nexen Energy.

Results from the BP-operated well are now expected around the end of the year.

Nexen itself is drilling a well in the UK North Sea on theBardolph prospect, and is involved in development drilling at East Rochelle, which is being tied-back to the company’s Scott platform.

Offshore Nigeria, Nexen says drilling has been completed on the Total-operated Owowo West well in block, close to the Owowo South B oil discovery. Results are under evaluation.

At the Total-operatedUsan field in block OML-138, which started up in February, nine wells are now onstream and two more are expected to be brought online over the next three months.
