Shell extends Noble drilling contract in UK North Sea

Noble Corp. (NYSE:NE) has a new contract commitment for the jackup drilling rig Noble Hans Deul valued at $132 million.

ZUG, Switzerland –Noble Corp. (NYSE:NE) has a new contract commitment for the jackup drilling rig Noble Hans Deul valued at $132 million.

The rig now has an 18-month contract extension from Royal Dutch Shell that begins in February 2013 in direct continuation of an existing contract.

The rig is operating in the UK sector of the North Sea.

TheNoble Hans Deul is an F&G JU2000E design capable of operating in up to 400 ft (123 m) of water and with a maximum drilling depth of 30,000 ft (9,144 m).

In the Gulf of Mexico, Noble reports its seven active rigs sustained no damage in the Isaac storm and have recommenced operations.
