Reef Subsea orders cable plow from Soil Machine Dynamics

ABERDEEN, UK –Reef Subsea Power & Umbilical has ordered a heavy-duty cable plow for trenching and cable installation from Soil Machine Dynamics Ltd. for delivery late this year.

Reef says the plow will accommodate cables and umbilicals to 200 mm (≈8 in) OD and 3 m (≈10 ft) bending radius with sufficient power to pull 150 metric tons (165 tons) and trench depths to 3 m. It will work in as much as 2,000 m (6,562 ft) water depth in unconsolidated material to 125 kPa. Also, the device will be able to cut at shallow (≈1 m, or 3.2 ft) or deep (≈2.4 m, or 8 ft) trench depth.

Reef Subsea is owned 50/50 by GC Rieber Shipping and HitecVision.
