STAVANGER, Norway – Ocean Installer has completed work at the Shell-operated Corrib gas field development offshore western Ireland.

The scope involved a survey of a 20-in. (51-cm), 83-km (52-mi) long offshore pipeline and relocation of 250 boulders to clear a 12-m (39-ft) wide corridor in an umbilical lay route. The project started in early August and was completed last week using the construction support vesselNormand Clipper.

Corrib field is in blocks 18/20 and 18/25, in a maximum water depth of 357 m (1,171 ft). Shell E&P Ireland operates the development, in partnership with Statoil Exploration and Vermilion Energy.

First gas from the field is slated to flow in late 2014 or early 2015, with the potential to supply up to 60% of Ireland’s gas needs at peak.
