HOUSTON – TGS (TGS:Oslo) has an agreement with Colombia’s Agencia de Hidrocarburos to acquire 10,000 km (6,214 mi) of 2D seismic offshore.

About 6,400 km (3,978 mi) of data from this proprietary survey will be acquired in the Colombian sector of the Caribbean Sea, and 3,600 km (2,237 mi) in the Pacific Ocean.

TheM/V Shatskiy will start work early next month on the program, designed to provide a new regional view of Colombia’s deepwater geology.

Additionally, TGS will provide processing and interpretation of the 2D data, due to be completed in late 2013.

“This contract is an important step in TGS’ strategy to grow inLatin America. Offshore Colombia remains a frontier area with little modern seismic data,” said Rod Starr, senior vice president Western Hemisphere for TGS.
