BRISTOL, UK – Wessex Exploration has completed preliminary interpretation of reprocessed seismic over its Juan de Nova Est permit in the Mozambique Channel.

Analysis of the widely spaced program reveals potential deepwater turbidite sandstone facies in the far north and south of the permit, in water depths up to 1,500 m (4,921 ft).

Various large oil companies have signed confidentiality agreements for potential farm-ins. Wessex is also considering acquiring a limited 2D seismic survey over the two delineated areas of interest.

The partners have initiated discussions with the French authorities who have jurisdiction over Juan de Nova, concerning a possible extension of the license beyond the December 2013 expiration date.
