Shell taps Technip to install subsea pipelines for Prelude

Shell Development (Australia) Pty. Ltd. has awarded subsea installation work at the Prelude FLNG vessel to Technip.

PARIS –Shell Development (Australia) Pty. Ltd.has awarded subsea installation work at the Prelude FLNG vessel to Technip. The contract includes:

  • Project management, fabrication, transport, and installation by reel of 12-in. corrosion resistant allow clad rigid flowlines
  • Onshore fabrication of PLETS, flowline appurtenances, and rigid spools
  • Management of key interfaces with hook-up and commissioning of the FLNG with timely transport, installation, and handover of the flexible risers and umbilical.

Technip in Perth, Australia, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will execute the contract. Technip’s Orkanger, Norway, spoolbase will weld the flowline pipe provided by Shell.

Technip will use vessels from its fleet, including theDeep Energy and Deep Orient. This will be the newbuild Deep Energy’s first reel pipelay project in the region.
