Second Nimrod exploration well starts offshore Namibia

A second exploratory well has begun drilling in the Nimrod prospect offshore Namibia.

GUERNSEY, UK –Asecond exploratory well has begun drilling in the Nimrod prospect offshore Namibia. The Kabeljou (2714/6-1) well is being drilled by the Ocean Rig Poseidon drillship.

Nimrod is in the Orange basin in southern block 2714A 77 km (49 mi) offshore Namibia in 360 m (1,181 ft) of water. The well plan calls for an estimated total drilling depth of approximately 3,350 m (10,991 ft) true vertical depth subsea.

Chariot Oil & Gas Ltd. (AIM: CHAR) has a 25% equity interest. Petrobras Oil and Gas BV has a 30% interest in the license and is the operator with BP Exploration (Namibia) Ltd. having 45%.
