LONDON –First oil and gas are flowing at the H4 wellhead platform offshore Vietnam in the Te Giac Trang field. SOCO International says the production start is more than a month ahead of schedule and nearly a year ahead of the original development plan.

Production from the field, currently approximately 42,000 b/d of oil, will increase to the 55,000 b/d processing capacity of theArmada TGT 1 FPSO.

Simultaneously, the PetroVietnam Drilling Services Corp. rig, the PVD-II, is at theH1 wellhead platform and has started drilling the conductor sections of a four-well infield development drilling program.

WHP-H4 is in the south of the TGT field in block 16-1 in the Cuu Long basin, off the southern coast of Vietnam, approximately 100 km (62 mi) from Vung Tau, 20 km (12.4 mi) northwest of the Bach Ho field, and 35 km (22 mi) west of the Rang Dong field.

The block is operated on behalf of SOCO (30.5%) and partners PetroVietnam Exploration & Production Corp. (41%) and PTT Exploration and Production Public Co. Ltd (28.5%), by the Hoang Long Joint Operating Co.
