Dubai Petroleum awards Technip subsea EPIC contract

Dubai Petroleum has awarded Technip an EPIC contract for South West Fatah and Fala fields offshore Dubai.

PARIS –Dubai Petroleum has awarded Technip an EPIC contract for South West Fatah and Fala fields offshore Dubai. Technip will do the engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning on the fields which are 90 km (56 mi) offshore in 53 m (174 ft) of water.

The scope of work includes replacement of a 12-in. gas pipeline and six 18-in. water injection pipelines. Technip said that its flagship S-lay pipe installation vessel, theG1201, will be used, along with a diving support vessel.

This award also marks Technip’s entry into the Middle East subsea market.

“This contract is a significant milestone for Technip in the Middle East,” said Arturo Grimaldi, senior VP of Technip in the Middle East. “It confirms our entry into the promising subsea business in the region, where we were traditionally focused on the onshore and offshore markets, thanks notably to positions and assets gained from the acquisition of Global Industries in 2011.”
