South Pars oil drilling set to begin offshore Iran

TEHRAN, Iran – The Marine-1 drilling rig is ready to start drilling the South Pars gas field offshore Iran for Petroiran, according to a report by Shana.

Saeed Hafezi, managing director, said the rig will drill as many as seven wells following site set up targeting potential oil reservoirs beneath the gas production.

Hafezi said the Marine-1 is capable of drilling 15 wells from the one location and can drill to 7,000 m (22,965 ft) of depth.
