Saipem wins extensions for drilling charters

MILAN, Italy – Saipem has signed an 18-month extension with NDC for the charter of the jackup Perro Negro 2, which is drilling offshore Abu Dhabi. The extension starts from 2Q 2012.

Perro Negro 2 is designed to operate in water depths of up to 300 ft (91 m).

Eni has extended by two years its charter of Saipem’s jackup Perro Negro 8, currently working in the Italian sector of the Adriatic Sea. The contract starts in November. Perro Negro 8 is capable of drilling in water depths of up to 350 ft (107 m).

Offshore Nigeria, Addax Petroleum has extended the charter of Saipem’s semisubmersible Scarabeo 3 through February 2014. This is a second generation semisub, operable in water depths up to 1,500 ft (457 m).

Additionally, Saipem has obtained a rate increase for existing contracts concerning the charters of the Perro Negro 6 and Saipem 10000 offshore Angola and Mozambique.
