Ocean Installer, Solstad order newbuild construction support vessel

STAVANGER, Norway – Ocean Installer and Solstad Offshore have ordered a NOK 1.5- billion ($252-million) construction support vessel for delivery in 2Q 2014.

The type OSCV 06L vessel, designed by STX OSV and  Solstad, will have a 3,000-ton carousel, 400-ton active heave-compensated crane, and ROV launch system. The vessel is 156.76 m (514 ft.)  long by 27 m (89 ft.) wide with aft cargo deck of 2,100 sq. m (22,600 sq. ft.). The 21,000 kW mains will drive two conventional propellers, two tunnel thrusters aft, and two tunnel thrusters plus two gyro thrusters forward.
