Midia signs jackup for Romania wells

Midia Resources has contracted Grup Servicii Petroliere’s jackup GSP Jupiter for exploration drilling in the Romanian sector of the Black Sea.

CONSTANTA, Romania – Midia Resources has contracted Grup Servicii Petroliere’s jackup GSP Jupiter for exploration drilling in the Romanian sector of the Black Sea.

The rig will drill two wells on the Ioana and Eugenia prospects, starting in mid-September, after completing itspresent operations for TPAO offshore Turkey.

The Ioana well will be drilled in 93 m (305 ft) of water on block XV Midia. Eugenia is in 55 m (180 ft) water depth on block XIII Pelican. Total anticipated depths are respectively 1,600 m and 2,300 m (5,249 and 7,546 ft).

GSP Jupiter is an ABS-classified four-leg, self-elevating, cantilever type jackup. The rig was converted and upgraded from a slot-type rig in 2007 at GSP Shipyard in Constanta Port.
