Keppel wins Azerbaijan, Brazil construction contracts

Caspian Shipyard Co. (CSC), owned by Keppel Offshore and Marine, has won a contract to build a floating dock for Baku Shipyard LLC (BSC).

BAKU, Azerbaijan -- Caspian Shipyard Co. (CSC), owned by Keppel Offshore and Marine, has won a contract to build a floating dock for Baku Shipyard LLC (BSC).

The dock, due to be completed in 4Q 2013, will measure 168 x 50 m (551 x 164 ft) and will be equipped with two sets of 25-metric ton (27-ton) jib cranes. It will have a maximum docking weight of 9,000 mt (9,921 t) and a maximum docking draft of 6.5 m (21 ft).

CSC's scope includes steelworks construction and fabrication of the hull structure, with BSC providing overall project management.

Keppel AmFELS has a contract from Transocean Offshore Deepwater Drilling to repair and upgrade the semisubmersibleSedco 707, which is due to arrive at the yard in July.

Here the scope of work includes steel renewal of the hull, repair of the thrusters, refurbishment of the living quarters, and electrical and piping replacement work. The rig should depart early next year and return to work offshore Brazil.
