ESP conductors installed in Phase 2 of BC-10 offshore Brazil

Offshore staff

HOUSTON – InterMoor has installed the electrical submersible pump conductors for the artificial lift manifold as part of Phase 2 of Shell’s BC-10 project.

InterMoor was responsible for fabrication and installation of four conductors plus fabrication of one spare conductor. Each conductor is 48 in. (1.2 m) in diameter with a 1 ½-in wall, 60 m (197 ft) long, and weighs 760 metric tons (838 tons).

The conductors were installed in water depths up to 5,600 ft (1,707 m) off the coast of Brazil in the Campos basin using DOF Subsea’s anchor handling vessel Skandi Skolten under charter to Shell Brasil Ltda.

InterMoor also provided an installation barge with custom launch system to install the conductors through four corner holes in a template by self-penetration. InterMoor’s Suction to Stability operations and driving via MENCK’s deepwater spread subsea hammer and power pack were also used.
